IBA Group, an international IT company specializing in software solution development, supported Raiffeisen Bank in Croatia last year in the implementation of an advanced SoftPOS solution. This technology enables the acceptance of card payments via Android smartphones with NFC technology and an Internet connection, without the need for an additional POS device. The solution, developed under the name tapXphone, is used in Croatia under the brand name RaiPOS and has been implemented in several other countries within the Raiffeisen Bank International Group.
Key features of the RaiPOS solution
Any Android device with NFC can be converted into a POS terminal, making it ideal for small businesses, shops, delivery services, cafes, restaurants, and street stall vendors.
Customers can pay with bank cards (Visa, Mastercard), as well as smartphones, smartwatches, rings, bracelets, and other NFC-enabled accessories.
The solution is certified by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), and supports the latest security standards (PCI MPoC, CPoC), which guarantees the security of transactions at the level of traditional POS terminals.
Transactions are fast, and the user interface is adapted for ease of use and fast onboarding of new users.
Technical and safety background
TapXphone is among the first SoftPOS solutions in the world to hold PCI MPoC and CPoC certificates, which confirm the highest level of security for mobile payments on commercial devices.
The RaiPOS app is compatible with Android devices running version 10.0 or later, which support NFC.
It is also possible to enter the PIN on the device’s screen for larger amounts, with additional security measures (e.g., random arrangement of keys).
Advantages for users and entrepreneurs
The advantages lie in the fact that there is no need to purchase or maintain a classic POS terminal – a smartphone is enough. The implementation and maintenance costs are lower compared to traditional terminals. It is possible to accept payments anywhere and at any time, which is especially important for mobile and field activities. Of course, there is also a card acceptance contract with RBA, and the application can be downloaded and activated in just a few steps.
