Resalta, one of the leading independent energy service providers in Central and Eastern Europe, has officially taken over Statkraft’s entire Croatian business operations, making it the most significant European producer of renewable energy. The transaction, completed in July 2025, includes a portfolio of renewable energy projects as well as the complete transfer of Statkraft’s local team and development platform in Croatia.

Statkraft plans to exit the markets in Croatia, India, and the Netherlands by October 2024, focusing its investments on fewer countries. The acquisition includes solar and wind energy projects, as well as planned battery storage projects with a combined capacity of several hundred megawatts in development, along with the entire local expert team.
Resalta, headquartered in Slovenia and part of the Aggreko Group from the UK, strengthens its position on the Croatian renewable energy market through this acquisition. The company emphasized that this deal is a key part of its strategy to expand renewable energy project development in Croatia.
The integration of Statkraft’s Croatian team into Resalta ensures business continuity and leverages their expertise to accelerate future project development. Resalta will continue to manage and develop the platform, aligning its operations with European climate goals and sustainable development policies.

Included in the acquisition are projects at various stages of development, such as the recently commissioned solar power plant in Dragalić, valued at € 8 million, as well as planned solar projects with a capacity of over 750 MW in Croatia.
Statkraft representatives expressed satisfaction with the transaction and confidence that Resalta, together with the experienced team, will continue to develop the Croatian platform to its full potential. Resalta’s CEO, Luka Komazec, called the acquisition a significant step forward, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable energy development in the region. He also emphasized that the transition will be smooth for all stakeholders and that cooperation will continue to evolve in line with Croatia’s and European climate goals.
This transaction further positions Croatia as an emerging market for renewable energy investments, supporting its energy transition. Retaining an expert local team and accelerating new projects enhances competitiveness and contributes to national goals of decarbonization, energy independence, and modernizing the energy system.
By acquiring Statkraft’s Croatian operations, Resalta confirms its role as a key player in developing sustainable energy in Croatia while opening the door for new investments, innovation, and business opportunities aligned with European sustainability guidelines.
